Crispy KFC-Style Fried Chicken – Homemade Secret Recipe!


 What You’ll Need:

 For the Chicken Marinade:

- 4 chicken drumsticks or thighs

- 1 cup **buttermilk

- 1 tbsp hot sauce (optional) 

For the Seasoned Flour Coating:

- 2 cups all-purpose flour  

- 1 tsp salt  

- 1 tsp black pepper

- 1 tsp paprika 

- ½ tsp garlic powder  

- ½ tsp onion powder  

- ½ tsp ground mustard  

- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat) 

For Frying:

- Vegetable oil, for frying 


How to Make It:

1.Marinate the Chicken:In a bowl, combine chicken with buttermilk and hot sauce (if using). Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for even more flavor.   

2.Prepare the Coating: In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard, and cayenne.  

3. Coat the Chicken:Remove the chicken from the marinade and dredge each piece in the seasoned flour, making sure to coat it evenly. Press down lightly for extra crunch.  

4. Fry the Chicken: Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully add the chicken pieces and fry for 10-12 minutes per side, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. (Use a thermometer to ensure internal temperature reaches 165°F/75°C). 

5. Drain & Serve: Once fried, place the chicken on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy that crispy, juicy goodness!

For extra crunch: Double-dip your chicken by dipping back in the buttermilk and flour mixture before frying. 

Spicy twist: Add more hot sauce to the marinade for an extra kick! 

Air fryer option: Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway, for a healthier version!
