Tater Tot Pizza Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef 
  • 1 small onion, diced 
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced 
  • 1 can (15 oz) pizza sauce 
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning 
  • Salt and pepper, to taste 
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese 
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni 
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots 
  • Optional: additional toppings (bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, etc.) 


Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the beef and sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  4. Stir in the pizza sauce and Italian seasoning, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, layer the beef mixture evenly on the bottom.
  6. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the beef mixture.
  7. Arrange the sliced pepperoni and any other desired toppings evenly over the cheese layer.
  8. Spread the frozen tater tots in an even layer over the top of the casserole.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
  10. Remove from oven and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top.
  11. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
