Simple Jam and Walnut Cake


Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup jam (strawberry, raspberry, or your choice)


Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until smooth.
  4. Gently fold in the chopped walnuts.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Drop spoonfuls of jam onto the batter and swirl gently with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
