Layered Minced Meat and Potato Casserole recipe for a comforting and satisfying meal


Ingredients:

For the Layers:

  • 500g (1 lb) minced meat (beef, lamb, or a mix)
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cumin (optional)
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter

For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup (250ml) milk or heavy cream
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or parmesan)


Instructions:

Prepare the Minced Meat Layer

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.

Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until soft.

Add minced meat, season with salt, pepper, paprika, and cumin. Cook until browned.

Layer the Casserole

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Grease a baking dish and arrange half of the sliced potatoes in an even layer.

Spread the cooked minced meat over the potatoes.

Add the remaining potato slices on top.

Make the Sauce & Bake

In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and salt. Pour over the casserole.

Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes.

Remove foil, sprinkle with cheese, and bake uncovered for another 10-15 minutes until golden.

Serve

Let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice and enjoy!
