Ingredients
For the Trout:
- 4 whole trout, cleaned and gutted
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste for spiciness)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
For Garnish:
- Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
- Lemon wedges
Instructions
Prepare the Marinade:
- In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, smoked paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- Rub the spice mixture evenly over the trout, inside and out.
Preheat the Grill:
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using a charcoal grill, ensure the coals are hot and ashy. For a gas grill, preheat to around 400°F (200°C).
Grill the Trout:
- Place the trout on the grill, and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. If using a grill basket or foil, you can cook the trout directly on it to prevent sticking.
- During the last few minutes of grilling, place lemon slices on top of the trout for added flavor.
Serve:
- Remove the trout from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro and serve with additional lemon wedges on the side.
- Enjoy your Spicy Grilled Trout! This dish offers a perfect balance of heat and flavor, making it a delicious choice for your grilling adventures.
